Law and (dis)Order

Q: Dear Diva, I’m 22 and just coming out as a lesbian and it is hell .. I live at home with my parents because I’m studying .. I’m studying law and I don’t like it .. I have no idea what I will do with my life .. and people tell me things will get easier but I am pretty miserable. I wanted to say this and put it somewhere. Thanks.

Diva Says: I realize you said that you didn’t want advice… but all I can say is this: Life is short, sweetie. The average woman lives 76 years. It may seem like a lot to you when you’re young, but 76 years is NOTHING.
Make use of it.. make yourself happy. Empower yourself to live the life that YOU want to live. You will never be happy if you try only to live up to the expectations that everyone else sets for you. Set your own standards of happiness.. decide what YOU want to do with your life.
So what if practicing law will make you rich and make your parents happy. What will it matter when you are 75 years old, gumming your mashed peas in a retirement home, wondering what happened to your life? You GO grrl… your OWN way!

Hi there, I understand where you’re coming from. I’m sorry to hear that you don’t like what you’re studying. However, you’ll get through it and if you want, you can always change your program.
How are your parents taking you coming out? Mine don’t know and I’m scared to tell them. If you want, please feel free to e-mail me at anytime. :)Take Care :)
